Introduction

Hello. My name is Phil Clark and I am a “middle of the road” cornhole player. One round I might look like a pro and the next one look like a newbie, but I love to play the game. Besides being a lot of fun, it is a great way to meet people.

In June, 2021 I ran across a website that showed a map claiming to be “The Ultimate Roadtrip”. Designed by a doctorate student, it is supposed to be the most efficient route for hitting a major attraction in all 48 continental states.

I thought of using that map as a guide in playing at least one cornhole tournament in each state over the course of the next year or so. The problem I ran into is the scheduling. Having a tournament scheduled at each point along the way at the time you arrive at that point is not very likely. Still, the idea of playing at least one cornhole tournament in each state has stuck with me.

The writing part I have been procrastinating about. As I start this blog, I have already played in eleven states. I just registered for the ACL Open tournament in Tiverton, RI, and plan to hit most of the Northeastern states as I go there and back.

So like the original Star Wars, I am not starting at the beginning, but will tell the story out of the sequence that it happened. I will probably write about each of the states as I visit them this trip, then later go back and cover the ones already traveled.

Below shows the states that I have already played in the order I first played them. It also shows the town, venue, and approximate date of the first time there. As I write more about each state, I will include the number in the title so they are easier to group.

No. State Town Venue      Date
1  Illinois Mattoon Joe’s 07/15/09
2  Tennessee Nashville Corner Pub 05/28/11
3  Indiana Granger Between the Buns 07/07/11
4  Florida Clearwater Quaker Steak 11/12/19
5  Kentucky Owensboro ACO Major 01/03/20
6  Ohio Cincinnati ACO Major 06/12/20
7  Wisconsin Muskego Dandelion Daze 08/29/20
8  North Carolina Statesville Patriot Axe 12/29/21
9  South Carolina Ladson Honky Tonk Saloon 12/30/21
10  Georgia Suwanee Monkey Wrench Brewing 01/02/22
11  Alabama Obelika American Legion 01/08/22

Thanks for stopping by. I am still learning this blogging software so thanks too in advance for your patience. If you haven’t already, please check out my about page.

PS – in case you’re interested, here is a link to “The Ultimate Roadtrip”.
